Class Requirements

Vaccination Requirements

Dogs are required to be current on rabies and distemper. Bordetella is also recommended, since your dog is attending class in a hospital environment. Fecal exams are required annually to detect internal parasites. Your dog must be free of illness and parasites, and in good health for class activities. You are welcome to attend class without your dog in the event your dog is ill or in season.

Your First Class

If this is your first Paws Abilities Dog Training class with a particular dog, there are a couple of forms needed to help ensure the safety of all class participants. Your dog will not be permitted to participate without these forms being completed. Therefore, please have them available for the first class:

A completed and signed Paws Abilities Dog Training Registration form. You can Click Here to view the form and print it out.
Veterinary records with proof of required vaccinations. We will validate and record vaccination due dates.

If you are unable to print the forms or complete paperwork ahead of time, you will need to arrive at least 15 minutes early for your first class to complete the paperwork before class starts.

Please remember that you will NOT bring your dog with you to the first Puppy Kindergarten or Beginning Obedience class. Dogs DO attend the first class Agility, Canine Good Citizen, and other courses. Whenever your dog attends class, bring:

Your dog, on a flat collar and leash. Any 4' or 6' leash is fine. Please do not plan to use a retractible leash for class activities - Students find them too difficult to use for that purpose. Choke collars and prong collars are not permitted during class.
Your clicker. You will receive a clicker in Session One of Puppy Kindergarten or Beginning Obedience. Additional clickers are always available for purchase at $2 each. For Agility, you will also need a wrist band for your clicker. These, too, are available for $2.
A large variety of interesting treats. You may also bring a favorite toy to Agility if your dog is extremely motivated by that toy.
